All you need is good quality, coarsely ground coffee (at least as coarse as French press or even a bit coarser). Also: please make sure your coffee's freshly ground with a good-quality grinder.
Suggested amount of coffee: between 7 and 8 grams per 100ml of water
You will also need good quality water at the correct temperature (approx. 91°C / 201°F - please feel free to experiment with the temperature a bit)
Gently pour in a bit (100ml or 3.5 oz) of water and let the coffee "bloom". After the first bit has seeped through, very slowly and gently pour in the rest of the water.
After 4 to 6 minutes all the water will have seeped through and you will end up with a far "cleaner cup" with far less solids than you would expect from such a preparation method. This is due to the restrictive manner in which the slowly poured water flows onto the coffee bed thus leading the coffee to filtrate the solids itself.
With a bit of time, some practice and patience this preparation method will soon yield the best pour over coffee you can get.
